Triple Crested Crown

Crested Saguaro - Rare
Double Crested Saguaro - Rarer
Triple Crested Saguaro - Takes the Crown

Harris Hawks usually hunt in three packs - this one going solo today

Sometimes the trails are as hard as a rock - because they are rock

On this patch of the trail the Saguaro were so thick they actually provided some shade - a rarety in the desert

Starr Pass Marriot Resort Hike

This is an Arizonan Cactus Maze (as opposed to a corn maze) Not being able to find your way out has more severe consequences

Some teenagers complain that there homes feel like prisons. Well leaving the nest here has some interesting twists

If brushing up against this bad boy looks nasty - well lets just say I googled nasty and this is what I found

My hiking trails are right under the approach pattern for Tucson Int Airport and the training route for Davis Monthan AFB

And finally the target of this hike - the Starr Pass Marriott Resort

Cave Creek Canyon

Adjacent to the Chiricahua mountains is Cave Creek Canyon. It is missing hoodoo's but spires and cliff caves it has an overwhelming abundance of

Chiricahua National Monument

The Chiricahua mountains are know for the interesting gardens of hoodoos and spires but the hike to this natural bridge is well worth the effort as well as the hoodoo's

I have a soft spot for any vegetation that can put on a solo act. However, just because I like them doesn't mean anyone else necessarily will enjoy them - c'est la vie

Onto the hoodoo's and spires that Chiricahua is famous for

Avalanche and etcetera

What can I say this is the stuff you have to hike around in Arizona

Stop twisting my arm

Even the locust have thorns on their legs

Gotta hike this ridge to go down that cliff to get to that ravine

Remember that car in the ravine well their it is...

Fire Works of Thorns

And finally the avalanche
which occured July 25, 2021 is already starting to exhibit new vegetation
